Popjustice Review "Selections From 'Circus'" In More Depth
11th November 2008
Popjustice have reviewed the 5-track "Selections From 'Circus'" CD that was reviewed in "The Sun" on Friday, in more detail today, starting with "Circus," saying, 'bits of it are a lot like "Break The Ice," but with an extra layer of production," that the song has a built-in dance breakdown, and that the lyrics include, "I run a tight ship, so beware, I'm like the ringleader, I call the shots, I'm like a firecracker I make it hot, now put a show," with the chorus being, "all eyes on me in the centre of the ring just like a circus." The bridge is 'the best bit', with the lyrics, "I feel the adrenaline moving through my veins, spotlight on me and I'm ready to break, I'm like a performer with this world as a stage." As "Out From Under," which is now produced by Guy Sigsworth, with a new 'from under, from under, from under' finale, and "Kill The Lights" were already online, "If U Seek Amy," is reviewed, saying it sounds like 'Timbaland Vs Scooter' with Britney searching for 'Amy' ("Oh baby, baby, have you seen Amy tonight, is she in the bathroom?"), and the chorus featuring "love me, hate me, say what you want about me, but all the boys and all the girls are ready to if you seek Amy," the latter part sounding like 'f-u-c-k me' - the review adds that there are 'great whooshing noises,' a 'la la la' intro, and some 'ha ha he he ho ho' parts. In summary, from the 5-tracks, they predict the album will be a 7/10 bridge from "In The Zone" to "Blackout."

"Circus" Preview Review From "The Sun" Newspaper
8th November 2008
"The Sun" have posted a preview review of some of the tracks from "Circus," saying, "If You Seek Amy" is a 'great track; a storming robopop number with clattering kettle drums' and featuring the lyrics, "All the boys and all the girls want to if you seek Amy." "Kill The Lights" is apparently about paparazzi lights, teasing them with the lyric, "Is that money in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?" The title track, "Circus," reportedly sounds close to the 'industrial hip-hop' sound that Madonna referenced on "Hard Candy," whilst "Out From Under" is a 'stirring break-up ballad up there with the best' that features the lyric, "We tried everything we could try, so let's just say goodbye forever."
