"My Prerogative" falls out of the top 75 this week in the official UK singles chart, whilst "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative" falls to #39 in the UK albums chart, despite an increase in sales from last week!

The discography has been updated with the 2004 re-releases of "...Baby One More Time" and "Britney," plus the 2002 Japan "Tour" promo CD, the "Sometimes" Japan single, the "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" Japan promo CD and DVD single, the UK "Overprotected" CD-R acetate and the French "Stronger" single!

BMG have revealed the cover for the commercial release of "Do Somethin'" - it is available in the discography now!

The UK release date for "Do Somethin'" is now 28th February 2005, having been delayed by a week, according to an official BMG press release, stuck on the promotional CD case. Artwork and tracklisting have yet to be finalised.

Britney phoned in on "TRL" today to air "Do Somethin'" in the US for the first and only time, and also spoke about "Mona Lisa" and a possible new album. On "Do Somethin'," Britney said, "it's really kinda simple, it's about going into a club and everyone's staring at you and trying to get everyone to do something and get up and dance." Britney is also credited as "Mona Lisa" on the credits for co-directing the video, when asked why, she said, "she's kind of like my alter ego, whenever I feel like being mean or if I feel like busting it to people around to do stuff right, it's kind of easier to be Mona Lisa instead of Britney." She also was asked if we can expect a new Britney album anytime soon, and said, "it's kind of like, I can't really say an album, but I have something going on, it's a show, but it's not a tour, it's in the works right now, that I'll be doing next year."

"My Prerogative" falls to #75 this week in the official UK singles chart, whilst "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative" falls to #28 in the UK albums chart. "...Baby One More Time" falls back out of the top 75 albums chart after 3 weeks.

 
40 HQ video captures from the "Do Somethin'" video are now available in the photo gallery! The video aired uncensored today on "CD:UK" and is available to request (number #160) on The Box, Smash Hits & The Hits!

The video to "Do Somethin'" was premiered on "Top Of The Pops" this evening in the UK in a butchered, censored form, and a few hours later it was premiered in Australia on Rage. It will also air tomorrow on "CD:UK" in the UK at 11.30am on ITV1, and will also be aired in the US on Monday as part of MTV's "TRL" show, with Britney phoning in the show to premiere the video and make an announcement!

Britney is officially the biggest-selling female artist this century - selling more records than any other woman. In the past five years, Britney's albums have outsold those by the likes of Madonna, Kylie, Dido & Celine Dion. A Jive Records spokesperson said, "It really is extraordinary. Britney and everyone here are thrilled. To become the biggest selling female artist of the past five years was amazing, but to outsell Madonna over the past half a decade is beyond our wildest dreams. It just goes to show what a musical force Britney is." Britney has sold over 50million records in the last five years from 2000 to 2004 inclusive and was also the 5th biggest selling singles artists of 2004 in the UK, selling over 530,000 singles, and the 13th biggest selling albums artist, with over 1.02million albums sold.

The European version of "Do Somethin'" will be released on 14th February, and will include the album version, the Thick vocal mix and DJ Monk's radio edit, along with the Valentin remix of "Everytime."

"My Prerogative" falls out of the top 40 to #47 in the official singles chart this week, whilst "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative" falls to #21 and "...Baby One More Time" falls to #69 in the official UK album chart.

The video to "Do Somethin'" will air in the UK from this Friday, 21st January, with the video airing as an exclusive on The Box, MTV and MTV Hits. The video will then air on "Top Of The Pops" at 7.30pm on BBC 1, "CD:UK" at 11.30 am on Saturday on ITV1, and will be added in regular rotation on all music television channels throughout the week.

Britneyvisited Allan Wicombe, an expert in phrenology (the study of skulls in determining mental power), in Malibu, California, to have her cerebral energy assessed, after becoming interested in the subject, and Wicombe was left dumbfounded by Britney's powers during a procedure to ease blockages in her inner spirit. He says: "Her mental powers were extraordinary. My fingers froze and were paralysed for hours after she left. That rarely happens."

"My Prerogative" falls out of the top 40 this week according to midweek singles sales chart, whilst "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative" is set to fall three places to #18 according to projections for the album chart.

"My Prerogative" falls to #40 in the official singles chart this week, whilst "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative" falls to #15 and "...Baby One More Time" falls to #61 in the official UK album chart.

Britney's official web site says that Britney's video for "Do Somethin'" is in the final editing stages and is set for debut by the end of January. The UK release date for the single is now 21st February 2005.

The relaunch of Britney's official site will include a "Truth Be Told" section where Britney will address tabloid rumours that she has come across. The first set include: The media's never ending "Britney V Christina feud" - Britney would love to be close with Christina again. In fact, Britney recently wrote Christina a letter telling her how happy and beautiful Christina looks lately. Is there professional competition brewing among the Spears sisters? - Not at all! Since the age difference between Britney and Jamie Lynn is so great, Britney has always taken on a mother figure role to Jamie Lynn and not just that of a sister. There has never been any sibling rivalry between these two and Britney couldn't be more proud of Jamie Lynn and her career success. Britney thinks Jamie Lynn looks beautiful on her Seventeen magazine cover and thought the inside story was very cute & funny. Speaking of Jamie Lynn's "Seventeen" magazine cover story, does Britney want to start dressing similar to the Olsen sisters? Britney made a comment on how Ashley & Mary Kate dress fun & funky so that Jamie Lynn might think about experimenting with new and different ideas in her own wardrobe choices and style. 

A new year is starting and I have so many resolutions. If only I could convince myself to stick to them! My Christmas was wonderful and I had such a great break. I think I should rephrase myself from my previous letters when I was talking about taking a "break". What I meant was I am taking a break from being told what to do. True Masters say it's cool when you look at someone and don't know whether they are at work or play since it's all the same to them. The things I've been doing for work lately have been so much fun, because it's not like work to me anymore. I've been even more "hands on" in my management and the business side of things and I feel more in control than ever. I just shot a cute video for "Do Somethin'" that I co-directed. After doing about 20 videos, it gets kind of boring playing the same role, so I chose to work with a young, hungry, director Billie Woodruff. He had no ego whatsoever and the whole process was just so much fun. Oh, his dog was just adorable too. As much fun as I had, I have to say I was a little disappointed that I still had to convince my record label that making this video was the right thing to do at this time. But, in the end, I think everything came out great. We shot the entire video in a record breaking 5 hours. I even came up with all the choreography and styled the entire shoot myself using Juicy Couture clothing. Co-directing this video was like an experimental project for me. I feel like being behind the camera is sometimes more satisfying than being in front of it. Working on this video was my first taste into behind the scenes work which I am excited about doing more of in the near future. When a woman directs, I think it just alters the entire feel of the movie, production or play in such a positive way. Speaking of, I've been working on writing and hopefully eventually directing a musical which makes fun of the whole Hollywood scene, which is appropriately titled "Hollywood". On a different note, I have a new dog named Lucky and I just bought her a new dresser for her room. Yes, she has a room, which she shares with Bit Bit. For Christmas, they got a baby chandelier to go in it. It's the cutest thing in the world! I have to go now because my other dog, Lacy, has been sick for a little while and I need to go give her medicine. Happy New Year! Love, Brit

A spokesperson from Jive Records has confirmed that Britney is in the "very early" stages of working on an album, which is not yet on the label's release schedule. In a surprise visit, Britney played a rough mix of a song from the album Thursday night on KIIS-FM in Los Angeles to get some fan reaction. "We got a call on the request line from Britney Spears saying she wanted to come by and play her new song," KIIS-FM music director Julie Pilat said. "Then she showed up and world-premiered a new song." "It definitely has the raw thing going on it," Spears said during her station visit. "I recorded this song when I was on tour, right before I hurt my knee. It was done, I think, four or five months ago. My band, we didn't use ProTools or anything with it. It's all live. There's a lot of stuff you can do to make it better. It's going to get better. It will get better - this is a really, really rough mix." The song - a slinky, midtempo number with a descending synth line that recalls 'NSYNC's "It's Gonna Be Me" - is dedicated to all the "legends and icons out there." Though Spears said she wants "Mona Lisa" to be the first single from the new album, she hasn't yet decided on a title for the project, though she's leaning toward " The Original Doll". "It's untitled right now," she said during her visit to KIIS-FM. "It's not even all the way done." She also said that she hoped to release the album "probably before summertime, or maybe a little sooner than that." 

"My Prerogative" climbs back into the top 40 singles chart this week to #35 from last week's #43, whilst "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative" climbs to #12 from #20 in the official UK album chart this week!
