Despite being at #1 all week in the UK sales flashes, Britney’s second album has debuted at #2 in the official UK top 75 albums chart, held off the top spot by the greatest hits release from Whitney Houston. Whitney and Britney were both neck and neck for the spot during the week, with Britney leading the way, however, Whitney’s release saw an increase in sales on Saturday.
Britney Spears’ second album, “Oops!…I Did It Again,” sold more than 500,000 copies on its first day of release in the USA and means she is poised to break the SoundScan record for highest sales in a week by a solo female artist. Mariah Carey’s 1995 Columbia album “Daydream” currently holds the record of 760,000 units. Current estimations suggest the album will sell over a million copies this week; it is also looking likely that the album will hit #1 in the UK, giving Britney her first UK #1 album.
Britney’s second album, titled after the UK #1 single, is out now in the UK! “Oops!… I Did It Again” features all-new material, including the track she premiered on tour earlier this year, “Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know,” which was written by Shania Twain and her husband. Woolworths also have a UK exclusive poster, if you purchase the album in one of their stores nationwide!
Tickets for Britney’s debut UK tour dates go on sale tomorrow, with the “Oops!… I Did It Again” tour hitting the country in November. Full story “Britney tickets to go on sale tomorrow”
