Britney and Kevin officially engaged

Britney Spears’ publicist has confirmed that she is engaged to backup dancer Kevin Federline. Kevin has been by Britney’s side as she recovers from arthroscopic surgery on her knee, which forced her to cancel the remainder of The Onyx Hotel Tour. Marrying Kevin will also make Britney a stepmother – he already has a 2-year-old with actress Shar Jackson, who’s also currently pregnant with his second child.

“People” magazine has the exclusive on the story and the couple are expected to do a new interview and cover shoot for next week’s issue.

“Everytime” hits #1 in the UK

“Everytime” has given Britney her fifth #1 single in the UK, her second #1 of 2004, and the second from the “In The Zone” album. Britney now officially becomes the third biggest female artist in UK chart history with her tally of 5 #1 singles being just behind Kylie Minogue (7) and Madonna (10).

“Everytime” sold over 55,000 copies to get to #1 last week, whilst Mario Winans sold just under 35,000 to reach #2.

The Onyx Hotel Tour second US leg cancelled

Due to Britney’s knee injury last week, the 2nd US leg of The Onyx Hotel Tour has been cancelled, with Britney needing to take 6 weeks of recuperation from her operation, and 8-10 weeks of rehabilitation. In a statement, Jive Records said that Britney looks forward to playing the cancelled areas in the USA in the future.

Britney’s debut fragrance to hit stores in September

Britney and Elizabeth Arden’s new fragrance will be called Curious, a mixture of white flowers and vanilla-infused musk. The packaging of the product features two of Britney’s favourite colours – pink and baby blue, with the bottle being azure with heart-shaped charms. A scented whipped body cream, shower gel and solid shimmer stick will all debut in department stores in September 2004, said Elizabeth Arden in a press release.

Britney injured on set of “Outrageous” video

Britney has injured her knee while filming a video on Tuesday night, delaying the shoot and complicating the second North America leg of her tour. Britney was in Queens, New York, shooting a video for her next single, “Outrageous,” the theme to the upcoming “Catwoman” movie, and had just completed scenes with guest star Snoop Dogg when she injured her knee around 11:30 pm.

“Outrageous” confirmed as fourth single

MTV USA have confirmed that the R Kelly-produced “Outrageous” will be the next single from “In The Zone” and will have a video directed by Dave Meyers (who directed “Lucky”). The track will be the theme song for the “Catwoman” movie, and the video is expected to premiere on MTV USA on 28th June 2004, with the track hitting radio the following day.
