EMI Music Publishing, which contains a database of songs written by Britney, including “Free,” “Sacred” and “Hollow,” has added a new song called “Giving It Up For Love,” in the last few days. The song was written by Britney Spears with Kara DioGuardi (Anastacia, Delta Goodrem, Hilary Duff), Scott Storch (Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, P!nk, Justin Timberlake), and Robert Waller (Beyonce).

Since reports were released about the secret release of Britney’s “(I’ve Just Begun) Having My Fun” on iTunes USA, the track has climbed into the top 10 most downloaded songs on iTunes, currently peaking at #7. It is currently unknown if the track will make it onto Britney’s upcoming greatest hits collection.
Britney’s greatest hits collection contains her version of the 1988 Bobby Brown track, “My Prerogative,” which will be the first single from the set. The cover version reportedly doesn’t sound much like the original and has been produced by Bloodshy & Avant, who last worked with Britney on “Toxic,” where they placed her vocals with a techno-lite beat.
The choice of this particular song could also be interpreted – like “Overprotected” and “I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman” – as a statement on the singer’s life and the media reaction to some of her recent decisions, including her engagement to dancer Kevin Federline. The song’s lyrics read, “Everybody’s talking all this stuff about me/ Why don’t they just let me live/ I don’t need commission/ Make my own decisions/ That’s my prerogative.” The song, which will hit US radio stations on 14th September 2004, will be one of two new tracks on the collection.
Between learning to cook and working on her greatest-hits CD, Britney Spears eases into her role as future stepmom to fiancé Kevin Federline’s kids. Spears was excited to spend time with Federline’s daughter Kori on Aug. 5. “She was spirited and really happy,” says director Dave Meyers. Her connection to Kori’s dad, he says, is “very sweet.” Since her engagement in June to dancer Kevin Federline, Britney Spears seems to have settled into a long, low-key premarital honeymoon. Shopping. A trip to Hawaii. Pool time. And, for a remarkably long stretch, no headlines. What’s up?

Britney’s greatest hits collection will be titled, “Greatest Hits: My Prerogative,” and will be released on 15th November 2004 in the UK. The lead single from the album will be a remake of Bobby Brown’s 1988 hit of the same name.
Britney won the Choice Single 2004 for “Toxic” at the Teen People Teen Choice Awards, held recently in the USA. Britney was not in attendance at the ceremony, despite rumours speculating she would be presenting an award.
