Britney Spears gave an exclusive interview to Z100 about her new album, New York, the VMAs and her world tour, which she confirmed will be happening next year, ‘definitely’! On the subject of the VMAs and “Piece Of Me,” she said “It’s a cool video, but by far, I’ve done videos that are way better, so I was really shocked it got awards. It was just inspiring, as I can really go there with the videos I’m doing now and see what happens.”
She also said she cut the song, “Circus,” two weeks ago, and explained her love for “Womanizer”: “It’s a really cool song, it’s so empowering for girls, it’s saying we know what you’re up to. It’s about guys cheating on other girls like that, that’s why I like it.”

“Womanizer” has been played to jorunalists today, ahead of it’s official premiere tomorrow. Popjustice have posted the first review of the track, saying it shares a lot in common with Rachel Stevens’ “Some Girls,” sounding like a mash-up of “Toxic” and the more ‘insane moments on “Blackout,” such as “Ooh Ooh Baby”.’ They added that the beat drops out at the end, with Britney singing the main hook, “You’re a womanizer, oh, womanizer, you’re a womanizer, baby,” and that this is the foundation for a fully-realised comeback with a single that is a late contender for single of the year. The video, featuring Britney as different characters, directed by Joseph Kahn, began shooting yesterday.
Simon Cowell has confirmed that Britney Spears will be appearing on “The X Factor” in the UK, telling “Extra”: “Yes, I think Britney Spears is going to perform on ‘The X Factor'”. When asked how they managed to get her for the appearance, Simon said “We didn’t get her. She’s got a record coming out. We have the number one show in England. It’s the best show for her to perform on. We’re absolutely thrilled to have her. I’ve always said this about Britney – that she’s a hugely talented person.
“Everyone wants to work with her because she’s a star. She’s the #1 booking in the world at the moment. The fact that she goes a bit crazy occasionally makes her more interesting. And now she has her career back on track – fantastic. I’m thrilled. If she wants to shave her head before she comes on the show, I don’t care.”
Jive Records have confirmed via Britney’s official web site that the world premiere of “Womanizer” has been delayed, due to it having ‘finishing touches’ added. The official press release for “Circus” last week said that the track was to be premiered today worldwide.
Britney Spears spoke to “Rolling Stone” about her new album “Circus” as part of their fall music preview, saying “I wanted to experiment with producers I haven’t worked with much before, like The Underdogs, who have a Timbaland kind of sound. I came into the studio because I had some free time. But once I started working, I was like, ‘This is cool!’ It just happened.”
According to the report, over the past four months, Britney has recorded over 30 tracks for the album, including the lead single, “Womanizer,” and the ‘thickly layered bump-and-grind’ “Circus,” produced by Dr. Luke.
Britney’s new album will be entitled “Circus” and will be released in the UK on 1st December 2008 preceded by the single, “Womanizer.” The single is slated to hit radio on 22nd September 2008 and is produced by up-coming Atlanta production team, The Outsyders. The album sees Britney reuniting with Max Martin, who wrote “…Baby One More Time” and “Oops!… I Did It Again” for the first time in seven years, having last worked with her on 2001’s “Britney.”
Other collaborators include Danja, Bloodshy & Avant, Guy Sigsworth and Max Martin’s frequent collaborator, Dr. Luke, who has written and produced the album’s title track, “Circus.” The press release concludes by stating that Britney has sold over 62million albums worldwide, and has 8 #1 singles to date.

“I’m always startled when folks think I’m a pushy stage mother – I simply did not have the ambitions for her that I have been accused of having. I wanted to help my daughter make her dream come true. I believe Britney had postpartum depression, which, added to the end of her marriage and the pressures of her career, brought her to breaking point. So many things in her life hadn’t turned out the way she wanted. As I watched her shave her hair off on national TV, I wept, praying incoherently that God would safeguard my daughter.
“After rehab, where she accused me of siding with Kevin, she refused to speak to me – our estrangement would last an excruciating six months. When Britney beat the paparazzo’s car with her umbrella, she was acting out my fantasy. She was hurt when her relationship with Justin ended, but now, with years of water under the bridge, they are reuniting – for a song, anyway, a duet for one of their new albums. They have grown in each compassion and maturity; here’s hoping they can be true friends and put any leftover missing puzzle pieces together for good.
“My relationship with Britney has undergone tremendous healing. We are back to four or five phonecalls a day, with her calling me about everything from Preston’s potty-training to the darling dress she found for her niece, Maddie Briann. When she was a girl, before the studio messed with her sound, Britney sang from the depths of her truth. I want Britney to reclaim her voice, to sing the songs that she sang before the pain and the heartbreak. Step by step, bar by bar, that glorious music is coming to life once again.”
“You always want to give her something she can feel intrigued by, because she’s done so much. She’s had some incredible albums. She’s been through so much, so you want to do things that will raise her eyebrows as well as her fans’, so we’re going to work really hard to give her something exceptionally special.” Getting Britney’s music back in the clubs is a priority, Sean Garrett said, but he’s also working on giving her songs with a longer shelf-life than your average dance track.
