“If U Seek Amy” causes controversy in the USA

“If U Seek Amy” is already causing controversy in the USA because of what it sounds like the title is spelling out when sung in the song. The USA censorship group, the Parents Television Council, is ‘warning’ parents about the song, and urging radio stations not to play it as it will ‘violate the broadcast indecency law’.

“There is no misinterpreting the lyrics to this song, and it’s certainly not about a girl named Amy,” their president, Tim Winter said. According to reports, radio stations across New York and LA are already spinning the track in its complete album form, whilst some areas have started spinning their own version, where ‘seek’ is changed to ‘see’. “If U Seek Amy” has sold over 107,000 downloads in the USA since December.
