Synth-pop pioneer Giorgio Moroder is returning with his first original artist album in 30 years. “74 Is The New 24” is due out in Spring 2015 featuring contributions from Britney Spears, Sia, Charli XCX, Kylie Minogue, Mikky Ekko, Foxes and Matthew Koma, among others.
Moroder is responsible for dozens of iconic hits from the past four decades including Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love.”
Britney spoke about her Vegas show and how nervous she gets when celebrities come to see her Piece Of Me show, saying, “I think Jennifer Lopez came to one of the shows a couple of weeks ago and I was extremely nervous.”
Jennifer is rumoured to be headlining a similar residency at Planet Hollywood during Britney’s off weeks; Britney said: “I would say it’s an ideal situation to be here in Vegas and have a show. It’s like a breath of fresh air. It’s like a dream come true for me, seriously. I’m in one location. I get to go back and forth. It’s amazing and it’s good for the kids too.”
Britney has confirmed she is dating producer and writer Charlie Ebersol, the son of former NBC exec and co-founder of ‘Saturday Night Live’, Dick Ebersol, saying it’s true but “it’s very new.”
Earlier this week, industry insiders said sales reports indicated that Taylor Swift’s new album, “1989,” would outsell Britney’s “Oops!… I Did It Again” in its first week to become the fastest selling album in the USA. Official sales reports have declared that “1989,” executive produced by Max Martin, who also wrote and produced most of Britney’s 2000 album, has sold 1.287million copies in the first week, failing to break Britney’s 1.31million and therefore Britney continues to hold the record that she has held for 14 years. “1989” is only the 19th album to sell more than a million copies in a week since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991.
When Britney found out she said, “I had no idea that that was even the case, so that’s really cool! It’s really phenomenal!. I’ll just have to toot my own horn!”
Las Vegas celebrated #BritneyDay yesterday, 5th November, with an elaborate event at the LINQ Promenade. At the event, Britney was presented with a ‘Key to the City of Las Vegas’ iconic Strip’, a rare and prestigious honour. The event kicked off with a dozen showgirls elaborately dressed dancing to “Toxic,” as they winded down to reveal Britney from a cluster of large feathers.
Britney said: “Thank you Commissioner Sisolak for that amazing introduction and thank you Las Vegas for welcoming me with open arms and being so supportive of me and the show. I’m honoured to receive the ‘Key to the City’s iconic Strip’, and I’m thrilled that today has been declared #BritneyDay.
Most importantly, I want to thank my fans who have been with me every step of the way. A special shoutout to all the ‘Britney’s’ for coming out and celebrating with me today. This is our day and I consider this city my second home and want to give back to it, so I’m teaming up with Zappos and the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation to help the children and families of Las Vegas.”
